How to Wear Ankle Boots with Dresses
Start with the hem. A mini dress shows the whole boot, so its color and shape become part of the outfit. With a midi dress, the key is where the skirt ends in relation to the top of the boot. Under a maxi, the toe and finish often do most of the work.
Our Giovana ankle boot has a pointed toe, front straps and a 100 mm steel stiletto. Here’s how to wear three finishes with three dress lengths, and when we’d choose a taller boot instead.
With a Mini Dress: Giovana Biju and a Soft Knit

Try Giovana Biju with an ivory sweater dress that falls above the knee. A short hem lets you see the tonal straps and the uninterrupted line of beige leather from ankle to toe. A loose knit sleeve or a slightly boxy dress works particularly well with the close-fitting boot.
For a different palette, keep the same proportions and switch to a chocolate knit. The contrast makes the beige boot more prominent without adding another color to the outfit.
With a Midi Dress: Giovana Black and a Visible Ankle Line

A bias-cut midi skirt moves when you walk, making it a good partner for Giovana Black. Look for a hem that ends a little above the top of the boot if you want its front straps to show. With a matte jersey or fine wool dress, the black patent leather gives an all-black outfit a change of texture.
If the skirt and the top of the boot meet at exactly the same point, try the outfit seated as well as standing. A side slit can give the fabric room to move and reveal more of the boot without shortening the dress.
Ankle Boots or Mid-Calf Boots with a Midi Dress?

Keep the black midi dress and swap Giovana for Kate Zebra. Its wider shaft reaches mid-calf, so the skirt can fall over the top of the boot. As the slit opens, it reveals black-and-white zebra stripes; from the side, the narrow 110 mm block heel adds a flash of neon pink.
Choose Giovana Black when you want glossy leather at the ankle. Choose Kate Zebra when you want the print to appear and disappear beneath the skirt. A straight or gently flared midi gives Kate’s wider shaft room to sit under the fabric. If your dress is closely fitted through the calf, Giovana is the easier pairing.
For a bolder version, wear Kate Zebra with a plain black mini. The stripes become fully visible, and the pink heel supplies the color. Explore more animal-print designer shoes if you like building an outfit around a pattern.
With a Maxi Dress: Giovana Miroir and a Glimpse of Silver

With a long dress, decide how much silver you want to show. A closed hem lets just the pointed toe of Giovana Miroirpeek out. A front or side slit reveals the matching straps and reflective finish as you move.
For evening, try a long ink-blue crepe dress. The matte fabric gives the mirrored silver a dark background, so there’s no need to match it with a metallic bag. Check the length wearing the boots: the hem should clear the floor when you turn as well as when you walk forward.
